Brewers at Rockies — Preview

14 May 2018

The Brewers have Freddy Peralta getting the start this afternoon.

The Milwaukee Brewers will be taking on the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. First pitch was scheduled for 8:10 pm ET.

Adam Ottavino and Wade Davis each pitched scoreless innings to close out the win for the Rockies. Bettors can also wager on the game's runline with the current odds coming in at Brewers +1.5 runs (-150) and Rockies +-1.5 runs (+130). The Brewers only managed five hits Saturday night and struck out ten times.

Jeremy Jeffress (3-0) pitched a scoreless ninth for the win and Josh Hader got three outs for his sixth save.

Wolters homered in the seventh against Albers, and Dahl hit a two-run drive in the eighth off Dan Jennings.

Woodruff went three innings and allowed seven runs on nine hits.

Chase Anderson was scratched from Saturday's start in Colorado due to an illness.

Ian Desmond's RBI double in the second produced the Rockies' first run. In the meantime, the Brewers are expected to summon prospect Freddy Peralta to start Sunday's series finale against the Rockies in Anderson's place. He struck out two and walked one. He lost in his lone outing at Coors Field in his career, which was a start on September 30, 2016.

A 21-year-old right-hander who was 5-1 this season at Colorado Springs, Peralta (1-0) didn't allow a hit until David Dahl hit a sharp single to center with one out in the sixth.

Milwaukee's pitching staff allowed 3.9 runs per game and its starters own a 4.35 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 6.60 K/9. Jake McGee (0-2) took the loss after giving up a run on three hits with a strikeout in one inning of relief.

Not only was Peralta's family going to witness him pitch for the first time, they would be doing so at his MLB debut. The Brewers are averaging just 3.82 runs per game this season while allowing 3.90 per contest as well.

"I know he cries a lot", Peralta said.

Jesus Aguilar made his first career start at third base, part of a strategy by Brewers manager Craig Counsell to keep his bat in the lineup against a left-handed starter.

The Rockies are hitting much better at home (.245) than they are on the road (.215) this season but it hasn't translated in the record as of yet.

As he walked off the mound, the enormity of the moment nearly overcame him. However, this is probably a one off to give Anderson a chance to recover.

"When you kind of hit a little skid, you want to be the guy to step up and shut that down and get a team win and start a new trend, start a new streak", Freeland said. The bullpen has logged an outstanding ERA of just 2.55, along with a K/9 of 10.28.

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) - Daniel Royer and Derrick Etienne scored to help the New York Red Bulls beat the Colorado Rapids 2-1. Peralta has spent the 2018 season in Triple-A with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. Colorado has seen the under go 5-1 in their last six overall, 5-1 in their last six on grass and 5-1 in their last six at home. The Rockies have hit 17 over their last 10.
