Governor proclaims UCF Knights national champions in Florida

09 Enero 2018

- The City of Orlando, the Downtown Development Board, and the University of Central Florida (UCF) are teaming up to host a free block party on Church Street in recognition of UCF football's perfect season.

Former UCF Knights coach Scott Frost might now be with the Nebraska Cornhuskers now, but that doesn't mean his former team's exclusion from the College Football Playoff doesn't still bother him. The school has also made championship T-shirts available and will raise a championship banner in their stadium.

UCF fans, celebrating the self-proclaimed national champion Knights, began the infamous chant that was heard throughout Penn State and other schools earlier this season. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Campus Sports.

There are others who think the UCF Knights should have had a spot in the College Football Playoffs. "I was watching [the selection show] every week, the committee sitting in a room and deciding that this two-loss team must be better than UCF because UCF is in the American, or this three-loss team must be better than UCF".

Central Florida football has enjoyed an entire championship journey before the national championship has even been played.

The event is free and considered to be family-friendly.

College football needs to allow for the "Cinderella" aspect that fuels the NCAA basketball tournament.

"I'm fine with it", Saban said.
