Without Remorse, House GOP Passes 'Morally Corrupt, Cruel, and Barbaric' Tax Bill

20 Diciembre 2017

When the House sent the tax bill to the Senate, Democrats spied provisions in House-approved tax bill which they believed ran afoul of the special budget rules. "The changes in the SALT deduction actually don't satisfy the needs of the people that I represent".

Cuts the corporate tax rate to 21 percent, down for the current 35 percent.

Reps. Mimi Walters of Irvine and Steve Knight of Palmdale were among the Republicans who had said they were undecided on the final bill because of new caps on deductions that have softened the impact of California's high taxes and expensive homes.

The result of this strong economy is that firms simply cannot find enough qualified employees to fill jobs the economy has already created without any tax cut (a word of advice to those college students on the eight-year graduation plan - finish up faster, and go fill one of those open positions now). Those tax cuts expire, meaning that if you make less than $75,000 a year, you're almost certainly going to be paying more in the long run.

The Republicans' final drive to deliver the tax package to Trump begins Tuesday with a vote in the House.

The bill's passage would provide Trump with his first major legislative victory after Republicans' repeated attempts to pass health-care legislation. "For months, I've been fighting tooth and nail.to protect the state and local tax deduction". And portions of the bill which are removed are called...ahem..."Byrd droppings". A vote later in the day or on Wednesday in the Senate is expected to seal the deal.

Sires has argued that the GOP tax plan favors corporations over residents.

The bill also allows for combined deduction of state and local income or property taxes up to $10,000. Let's try eight years of you spending your money and making America competitive and then a future Congress can decide is that right for this country.

On the floor of the House before the vote on Tuesday, Pascrell said that the bill is a "stick it the middle class" legislation. Jeff Denham of Turlock and David Valadao of Hanford have said the changes to the tax code - especially the near doubling of the standard deduction - constitute a win for their constituents.

"Future generations will remember who cast votes to raise taxes on 86 million middle class households and heap $1.5 trillion in deficits on our children and grandchildren", added House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer of Maryland.

Why all of this parliamentary hopscotch?

Chapman University associate political science professor Fred Smoller said taxes are such an important issue for Orange County voters that the vote will be "millstone" around vulnerable members' necks.
