Carlos Beltran Retires A Champion After Storied 20-Year MLB Career

14 Noviembre 2017

"I can't wait for what the next chapter holds".

Many of his current and former teammates expressed their gratitude and appreciation for Beltran on social media after his announcement on Monday.

Another six-year stint followed at the New York Mets between 2005-2011 before a lone stint at the San Francisco Giants. "But I never thought that I needed to win a World Series to make my career complete". Over 20 years, I feel like I accomplished that. Some may still be sour that Beltran struck out looking to end the game, but he hit.296/.387/.667 with three homers in the series. But the Gators (3-6, 3-5 SEC) turned to Luke Del Rio in early October, went back to Franks the following week and then ended up starting Zaire after the program parted ways with coach Jim McElwain two weeks ago.

Beltran is a nine-time All-Star who won the 1999 AL Rookie of the Year award with Kansas City and also won three Gold Gloves.

In his prime, Beltran was a stunning combination of contact, power, speed and fielding.

"I am blessed to have shared all of my experiences with my wife and my three kids, my family and friends. And I am blessed to be a champion". What will answer the question is that swing, and the image of him striding through center field to chase down a flare or a ball in the gap.

Beltran spoke to a group of reporters Sunday night at The Hunt & Fish Club in New York, at a fundraiser supporting Jorge and Laura Posada's recently formed The Puerto Rico Foundation's Hurricane Maria Relief Fund. While Yankees past and present chatted with donors and other celebrity guests, Beltran contemplated his own future in the game - before heading off to mingle and have a little fun as well, of course. But he did rave about his career and the respect he has for him.

Houston Astros pinch hitter Carlos Beltran hits an RBI double during the ninth inning of Game 4 of the ALDS against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, in Boston.

We were in the clubhouse, celebrating as a team, and all of the young guys - Springer, Marwin, Correa, Altuve - they were all coming up to me saying, 'Thank you, Carlos!

HOUSTON - It took quite some time, but Carlos Beltran finally got there, winning a World Series title after 20 seasons in the majors. It was not immediately known if Anthopoulos will be given control of baseball operations with the Braves, duties that have been managed by team president John Hart. Beltran had 15 home runs and 51 RBI in 69 games prior to a midseason trade to the Astros. Regardless, he will be a member of the Royals Hall of Fame in short order as one of the greatest outfielders in franchise history. It led to him signing a two-year contract with the Cardinals. He hit 30 or more homers four times, with a high of 41 in 2006, and finished with 435 in his career.
