Malala Yousafzai finishes high school, celebrates by joining Twitter

Nobel Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, who rose to global fame for her work as an activist for girls' education, created a Twitter page Friday, garnering about 447,000 followers in less than 24 hours.

The internet can be an wonderful place where people from many walks of life can interact out in the open, for all to witness. Just ask 19-year-old women's equality pioneer Malala Yousafzai, who abstained from social media distraction until Friday, her last day of high school.

Her final post of the day reads: "On and off Twitter, I'm fighting for girls - will you join me?"

"Next week, I will be back on my #GirlPowerTrip to meet girls in Middle East, Africa, & Latin America". She also made announcement about graduating her high school and termed her experience "bittersweet' saying she was also excited about her future". She survived her injury and forced to escape to Britain.

US-Russia Agree to Ceasefire, De-Escalation in Southwest Syria

Since joining Twitter, Malala's amassed over 500,000 followers and after receiving such a warm welcome, she was still reading replies over 24 hours later. "When my family fled our home, I anxious I was leaving behind more than books and pens - I feared I was leaving behind my dreams for the future".

Nobel laureate and girls' education campaigner Malala Yousafzai graduated from college on Saturday and used the occasion as an opportunity to join Twitter.

She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize two years later and has continued to campaign for children's rights to education across the world, addressing the United Nations on the issue. Her 2013 book I am Malala is a bestseller. She has been offered a place to study at Oxford University.
