Chelsea set to offer £70million for Alvaro Morata

10 Julio 2017

He has been scouted by a lot of big clubs and although his release clause of €100 million has put off a lot of clubs, Chelsea may be willing to make a move.

The Belgian would join Victor Lindelof, who arrived for £30.7 million from Benfica, in what is expected to be an expensive group of new signings as Mourinho targets a Premier League title challenge.

Rodriguez though has since witnessed a decline and is no longer a certain starter.

But they have now been forced to pursue alternative targets after Manchester United hijacked their move for the Belgium international.

The 24-year-old striker is set to complete a £75m move to Old Trafford from Everton despite being heavily linked with a switch to Chelsea earlier this month.

Zidane preferred the likes of Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema in his attack last season.

Mauricio Pochettino, the Tottenham manager, primarily played Dier in central defence last season, with Victor Wanyama making the defensive midfield position his own after moving from Southampton.

"I would only sign them if they can improve the team enough".

So Chelsea find themselves facing the same puzzle as United before their Lukaku coup - where can they find a striker capable of hitting those 20 goals a season?

Manchester United and Blues were both in to sign the striker but the Red Devils have agreed a £75million deal with Everton. Just like United, Chelsea believed Lukaku was the best option.

But while Modric, who moved the other way - from Premier League to La Liga in 2012 - would understand any player leaving to get more playing time he believes walking away from the Bernabeu would see you leave the biggest club in the world.

It is a problem Chelsea have to solve because they will look around at their top six rivals and see Kane at Spurs, Sanchez at Arsenal, Sergio Aguero at Manchester City, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino at Liverpool and Lukaku at United.

On Saturday, reliable RMC Sport journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi Tweeted that Conte is currently upset about the breakdown of two deals.
